Balloon Hoax in Colorado

CNN reported that the "ballon boy" saga is a hoax. Authorities confirmmed that the hoax was a publicity stunt made by the Heene family to get a chance to be on reality TV.

Last Thursday, October 15, the saucer-like balloon was believed to be carrying their six-year-old son, Falcon Heene, when it set loose from the Keene home in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Authorities said the balloon was about 20 feet long and 5 feet high. They said that the balloon went as high as 7,000 feet in the air early Thursday afternoon. During this time, the Sherif's deparment contacted a specialist to determine whether or not the child could be in the balloon.

However, the child was later found at the attic of the Heene house. It raised a lot of suspicion when the Heene gave an interview with CNN. THe Hollywood gossip group, TMZ, also reported that the Heenes wanted to pitch a reality show about their family to some media outlets.

The County Sheriff Jim Alderson announced early Sunday morning that the balloon incident was indeed a hoax.
