The Somali President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed is met with the nation's largest Somali community in Minneapolis as part of a tour of cities with the heavy populated Somali-Americans in America Sunday. (Star Tribune)
President Ahmed's visit is the first ever for a Somali president to come to Minnesota.
The president has had private meetings with youth, elders and the general community during his stay. He will also addressed a crowd of almost 4,500 Sunday at Northrop Auditorium on the University of Minnesota campus.
The recently elected president pressured the crowd in asking for their help to support the fragile Somali government by sending money to international aid agencies.
President Ahmed is said to be the best hope for the Somali nation and people after nearly two decades of civil war. Many Somalis have high hopes for the president and his newly found government.
President Ahmed also condemned recent terror recruiting in the Twin Cities to go back to Somalia and fight with the terror group, Al-Shabaab. WCCO
After Minneapolis, President Ahmed is off to DePaul University in Chicago and then Columbus, Ohio before going back to Mogadishu.
